The Utopia „Mix-Up“ is based on the predicted growth of the elderly population in the Uk, as well as the increasing shortage of affordable accommodation. The idea is to create a home sharing model between elderly and young people, which should develop a better understanding between two generations.Intergenerational solidarity should be based on the need to rebuild family-like links at the community level in order to fight isolation, loneliness and vulnerability while respecting the private life of each individual. 

In this Utopia, the focus is not only laid on helping elderly people and fight isolation instead both sides should benefit from the cohabitation. This benefit is claimed by the exchange of knowledge and skills while creating a friendship and helping in different situations of life. Everybody can learn from another and mix up. Therefore, special furniture to support the communication is designed, as well as, a new arrangement of a task within a community.
